Elephant Ear
Description:
The Elephant Ear (Alocasia Polly) is a tropical plant that is native to Asia. It's a tall plant with large leaves that are bright green and glossy with a heart-shaped base. The leaves can grow up to 2 feet long and are held on long, sturdy stems. The undersides of the leaves are often purplish in color and the leaf veins are prominent. This plant produces small, inconspicuous flowers on spikes that rise from the base of the plant.
Plant Care:
- Light: Elephant's Ear prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as it can cause the leaves to scorch.
- Water: Water the plant thoroughly and allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Over-watering can cause root rot.
- Soil: Elephant's Ear prefers well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter.
- Humidity: This plant prefers higher humidity levels and can benefit from regular misting
- Fertilizer: Feed the plant with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season
